Prospective UTeach Students

IMPORTANT: In the most recent session of the Texas Legislature, changes were made to the GPA requirement for all teacher preparation programs in the state. The minimum GPA has been raised from 2.5 to 2.75. Exactly how this new requirement will be implemented and on what timetable is still to be determined. The UTeach Natural Sciences program will update all policies accordingly. In the meantime, we want current and prospective students to be aware of this new requirement. We will post information on the details as soon as we have them.

The UTeach Program is designed to give both undergraduate students and degree-holders the opportunity to explore the profession of teaching in a hands-on way. In your very first semester in the program, you will have the opportunity to develop and teach a lesson in a local classroom. The UTeach Program also offers a partial tuition rebate upon completion of the first two classes, Step 1 (UTS 101) and Step 2 (UTS 110).
Which Scenario Best Fits You?

Continuing Undergraduate UT Students
The UTeach Program provides a flexible entry plan no matter how far along you may be in your degree plan. You can major in one our UTeach degrees in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). You can also pursue any major at the University of Texas and complete requirements for certification. Students do not have to be enrolled in the College of Natural Sciences to pursue a certification through our program; there are several ways that you can work the required courses into your current degree plan in any college. During peak registration advising--the week before classes begin through the 8th class day--students must attend an information before making an individual appointment with an advisor.
