Chris Costello is the Director of UTeach Outreach. Chris has five years of experience with the UTeach Institute as site coordinator and curriculum specialist, where he served as the liaison between the faculty and staff at the partner Universities and the UTeach network. He has a strong mathematics curriculum background, an understanding of inquiry-based learning, and a history of working to improve STEM education. He has taught mathematics courses at several universities; high school mathematics in Kyle, Texas; served as department chair; and developed and taught an elementary to middle school science and mathematics transition camp. He has learned a great deal from his various positions within UTeach and across K-12 and university settings over the last two decades, and expects to lean on these experiences and contacts while continuing to oversee the growth and long-term sustainability of UTeach Outreach.
Chris sees this as an exciting opportunity to further his passions of inspiring learners to pursue STEM fields and improving the access of underrepresented groups to instruction that is relevant, engaging, inclusive, and pedagogically sound.
