Undergraduate students interested in certifying in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and math) have two options with UTeach:
- Major in biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, or physics with the teaching option,
- Keep your current major (in any college) and take the coursework required for certification in addition to degree requirements.
Teaching Option degree plans are streamlined to allow students to complete a rigorous undergraduate degree in four years, complete with all the course work needed for middle or high school teacher certification. Teaching Option degrees require deep content knowledge combined with courses grounded in the latest research in STEM education. While most graduates go on to classroom teaching, our alumni are also prepared to enter graduate school or to work in STEM-related industry.
Sample degree plans are below. These checklists are available for your information. Students should also refer to the Interactive Degree Audits. See your UTeach advisor to help ensure that you are taking the courses you need to complete your degree in a timely manner.
