Internships

Real Experience, Real Impact

UTeach internships provide UT Austin students and recent graduates with meaningful, hands-on experience in STEM education, preparing them for careers in teaching and education leadership. Interns work alongside faculty, staff, and local partners on projects that shape the future of education.

These internships create a triple impact—supporting the professional growth of future STEM educators, addressing staffing needs in local schools, and improving student outcomes through increased tutoring and mentoring. Interns serve in schools and STEM-focused nonprofits across Austin, working with K–12 students and helping to build a strong, supportive UTeach community on campus.

Highly qualified and passionate about teaching, UTeach interns help design curriculum, tutor students, and lead STEM lessons—all while serving as ambassadors for UT Austin. Their work supports partner schools and organizations at no financial cost, delivering immediate value and long-term impact.

Your gift directly funds paid internship opportunities. While $2,000 supports one intern for a semester, every contribution helps students gain real-world experience and become the next generation of STEM leaders.

Current and recent UTeach internship placement sites include: Crockett High School, McCallum High School, Girlstart, Navarro Early College High School, NYOS Charter School, and others.

Teaching Outreach Summer Camp

UTeach Outreach: Expanding Access, Inspiring Futures

UTeach Outreach expands access to STEM education by inspiring upper elementary, middle, and high school students to pursue and thrive in STEM fields. Through engaging, hands-on programming, UTeach Outreach helps students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed—while sparking a lasting interest in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Through summer camps, after-school clubs, and service learning courses, UTeach Outreach opens pathways that guide students from early STEM exploration to college and career readiness.

Our programs not only introduce students to STEM concepts but also show them what's possible—shaping the next generation of scientists, engineers, educators, and innovators.

Summer Camps

UTeach Summer Camps offer students exciting, hands-on experiences in STEM, sparking curiosity and building the skills and confidence needed for future academic and career success. Hosted on the UT Austin campus, these camps provide a fun, engaging environment where students explore STEM concepts through inquiry-based learning, team projects, and real-world applications.

At the heart of our summer offerings is the UT PREP Summer STEM Pathway (UT PREP)—a series of four rigorous, five-week camps designed to accelerate STEM learning, particularly for under-resourced middle and high school students. UT PREP offers an immersive academic experience focused on preparing students for STEM majors and careers through project-based instruction, exposure to university labs and facilities, and mentorship from educators and industry professionals.

Through this multi-year pathway, students deepen their understanding of STEM content, build a strong STEM identity, and develop the academic readiness—including calculus preparation—needed to thrive in higher education. Students in Years 2–4 of UT PREP are also eligible for Career and Technical Education (CTE) credit.

UT PREP serves 250–350 students each summer in partnership with local school districts and nonprofits. More than 65% of participants qualify for free or reduced lunch, and over 65% attend with the help of need-based financial assistance—ensuring the program remains accessible to those who benefit most.
