Internship/Student Employment

Depending on your situation, the process by which you apply and are placed for a UTeach Internship differs. Select which option best fits your situation below. Please note that students must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours to hold an internship.

Reporting Your Time

Information about the Timesheet Schedule and Check Release Dates can be found here. You may also wish to install the Workday Mobile Application on your phone. If you need help with your timesheet, there are several videos available on how to enter your time, correct your timesheet, and view your available pay slips. Finally, don't forget to download the Remote Internship Work Log.

New Interns

Step 1: Review internship placements and use the Internship Choice Form at the top of the page to select your internship. Follow the instructions listed in the internship details.

Step 2: Complete your New Intern Orientation with a peer mentor and upload it to the internship system.

Step 3: Onboarding – As you begin your employment: (video)

Step 4: If Notified by Workday that your I-9 is needed:

  • Bring original, acceptable document(s) to present to the I-9 Representative (see the List of Acceptable Documents in Form I-9 Instructions). Information from these document(s) will be recorded and sent to the federal E-Verify System to confirm your identity and authorization to work in the United States. IMPORTANT: THE DOCUMENT(S) YOU PRESENT MUST BE ORIGINALS AND CAN NOT BE EXPIRED.

Step 5: Schedule and appointment with UTeach Employment Representative, Russ Woodward (woodward@uteach.utexas.edu) before your 3rd day of work to meet in person and provide original documentation.

Step 6: Wait for your internship placement email before you start working.

Returning Interns

Step 2: Refer to New UTeach Interns – Watch the Onboarding video.

IMPORTANT: If Workday requires you to complete an I-9 again, please see Step 4, otherwise proceed to Step 6.

Step 4: If Notified by Workday an I-9 is needed:

Interns with Work-Study Award

Step 1: Print the Work-Study Verification* (year, semester & amount).

Step 2: Present the form to UTeach Office PAI 4.02 (Attn: I-9 Representative).

Step 3: Complete the online Hourly Time Report.

Step 4: Complete Work-Study Forms. For more information please see the Work-study website.

* Your Work-Study Verification is confirmation that you have been awarded Work-Study for the current academic year. You can access it on UT Direct > CASH > Status/Requirements or from MyUT.
