UTeach Internships
The UTeach Internship program partners with nonprofit organizations and local schools to help meet the demand for high-quality STEM teachers. UTeach interns gain valuable field experience while bringing hands-on, project-based learning to K-12 students.
UTeach interns work in a variety of educational settings including public, private, and charter schools; museums, libraries, and STEM camps. A full list of participating sites can be found here.
UTeach Internships provide local schools and nonprofits with educators to help write curriculum, teach courses, give tours at local museums, and assist with after-school academic programs.
In addition, internships provide UT Austin students with early career experience in high-need STEM teaching positions, rather than working in jobs that do not contribute to their academic progress.

Wills and bequests
You can designate The University of Texas at Austin as a beneficiary in your will, living trust, or other estate plan document.
If you would like to leave a gift for UTeach in your will, you may use the language below. If you would like to designate your gift for a particular collection or program at UTeach, or establish an endowment with your bequest, please contact Marcia Inger Navrátil, J.D., who can assist you with language and guidelines to convey your intent.
Sample language for your will:
I hereby direct $___ (or ___ percent of my residual estate) in cash, securities, or other property to the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System for the benefit of The University of Texas at Austin.
This gift shall be for the further benefit of UTeach in the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin and shall be used to [purpose].
Tax ID number: 30-0710145
Retirement plan assets
Retirement plan assets are a great way to support the UTeach’s work because they help support the mission and they can provide tax relief for your loved ones too.
Money in an employee retirement plan or IRA has yet to be taxed. When a distribution is made to anyone (family or friends) other than your spouse, the beneficiary will owe income tax on the gift. In some states, combined federal and state income taxes could reduce the value of the IRA gift to a family member or friend by half.
Consider leaving appreciated assets to your friends and family and direct your taxable retirement-account assets to charities such as UTeach. As a nonprofit organization, we are tax-exempt and will receive the full amount of what you designate to us from your plan.
One of the easiest gifts to make, it only takes three simple steps to name UTeach at The University of Texas at Austin as a beneficiary:
Contact your retirement plan administrator, insurance company, bank, or financial institution for a change-of-beneficiary form.
Decide what percentage (1 to 100) you would like UTeach to receive and name The University of Texas at Austin for the further benefit of tUTeach, along with the percentage you chose, on the beneficiary form. You can also make UTeach the contingent beneficiary so that we will receive the balance of your plan only if your primary beneficiary doesn’t survive you.
Return the completed form to your plan administrator, insurance company, bank, or financial institution.
Charitable gift annuities
If you are 55 years-of-age or better, you can transfer cash or appreciated securities to the UT Foundation for the further benefit of UTeach, and you are paid a fixed amount (with rates based on your age) annually for the rest of your life. And, you will receive a significant charitable tax-deduction during the year you establish the annuity. At the end of your life, UTeach receives the remainder of your gift. This type of gift provides security for you and your loved ones. Some of this income may be tax-free.
Charitable trusts
Charitable Remainder Trust
A charitable remainder trust allows you to transfer cash and appreciated securities, as well as property, to UT System or your bank/trust company. A charitable remainder trust typically pays income to one or more named beneficiaries for life or for a set term of up to 20 years, after which the remaining assets in the trust would go to benefit UTeach. This type of gift will provide you with an upfront charitable tax deduction and income for life while supporting UTeach’s work.
Charitable Lead Trust
You can transfer cash, appreciated securities, and/or property into a lead trust that makes gifts to UTeach for a number of years. You will receive a charitable deduction, and you or your family receives the remainder of the trust at a tax savings.
Property gifts
Real property
You can support UTeach’s mission with a gift of real estate, land, or minerals.
For more information about using a gift of real property to benefit tUTeach, contact the university’s gift and estate planning office at giftplan@austin.utexas.edu or 1-800-687-4602.
Personal property: non monetary gifts
Donating personal property to UTeach can significantly enhance our educational programs by providing direct resources for hands-on learning and experimentation. These contributions help foster innovative teaching practices and inspire future educators by integrating real-world tools into their training. Additionally, non-monetary gifts can create lasting impacts that transcend traditional financial donations, enriching our students' educational experiences in unique and meaningful ways.
