Embark on a rewarding journey with UTeach Access at the University of Texas! Are you an Austin Community College student interested in science or math and eager to make a difference? Join our close-knit community that fosters collaboration, exploration, and giving back through the UTeach STEM teacher preparation program!
Highly qualified science and math teachers are essential for student success and are in critical demand nationwide. UTeach Access is working to help fill this need by paving the way for ACC students to transition to UT Austin’s College of Natural Sciences, where you’ll earn your certification to teach middle and high school science or mathematics while simultaneously pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics.
Access students have preferential enrollment in introductory courses exploring how to impact classrooms and communities through hands-on and inquiry-based teaching. After one year, ACC students who successfully complete UTeach Access requirements are eligible to transfer to UT Austin’s College of Natural Sciences to continue their studies.

UTeach is a nationally recognized teacher preparation program that empowers STEM majors to become highly effective secondary educators. Due to its effectiveness, UTeach has been replicated at over 45 universities nationwide, significantly impacting the STEM education landscape by addressing the critical need for qualified teachers.

UTeach also sponsors numerous community events, including workshops, job fairs, and get-togethers to connect with peers, experienced educators, and professionals.
Paid Internships & Scholarship Opportunities
UTeach offers its students multiple internships and scholarships. Through the UTeach internship program, students can work up to 20 hours a week with organizations in the Austin area that provide educational services to the community. UTeach additionally helps reduce financial barriers and provides recognition and support through various scholarships and grants specifically geared to students in the UTeach and Access programs.
